Our story

With a shared passion for antiques and home design, husband-and-wife team Ralph and Janice Cocchi opened their first store in Verona, New Jersey over 25 years ago, naming it Remember When Antiques. The shop quickly became a destination for vintage furnishings, lighting and décor, crystal, giftware, and unique collectibles.

A few years later, they expanded their vision by opening a second store in Chatham, New Jersey, calling it Home Sweet Home. Janice led the Chatham location, beautifully showcasing her decorative talents with thoughtfully styled displays of painted furniture, one-of-a-kind gifts, and seasonal merchandise. It was there that her custom furniture painting business began to take shape—and soon, it flourished.

As demand grew, so did the need for more space. When the opportunity arose to move to a larger location in Madison, Janice knew the time was right to take the next step.

Fast forward to 2025, when Janice made the heartfelt decision to bring Home Sweet Home back to where it all began—Verona, New Jersey. A major reason for the move was their Verona-based warehouse, where all custom cabinetry, furniture building, and painting takes place. By bringing both Remember When Antiques and Home Sweet Home together with the warehouse, Ralph and Janice created a single, unified compound—a convenient and inspiring destination where their passion for antiques, custom design, and craftsmanship comes to life.

“Life isn’t about the things you have, but about the experiences you have with them. We turn something old into better than new.”

The owner, Janice, has repainted my kitchen cabinets and just finished painting 4 pieces of furniture for me. She transformed my kitchen to a bright airy space. She helped me pick out the colors for the furniture and every piece is gorgeous and fits perfectly into my house. She has an artist’s eye for color and the workmanship is the best I've ever seen. Her pricing is very reasonable and to top it off she is a pleasure to work with. You won't be disappointed!
